Mine Zapper

My game is called Mine Zapper. It is a points and shooting game. It is singleplayer and the character is called James Bolt. 

The GOAL is to get the HIGHER score in 90 seconds:

Spike Ball: Eliminate +1. Touching you: -1. 

Grab H C S Letters: +5 each. 

Mine: Eliminate +2. Touching you -2. 

Use Arrows to move: Right, Left, Up, and Down. 

a: Turn Counterclockwise. s: Turn Clockwise. Space Bar: Shoot Lightning bolts. 

Bat: Eliminate +10 points. It can’t hurt your character.

It consists of  who gets more points after 90 seconds. It’s a 1-player game and the character is called James Bolt.

Now, How do I even make my character start? How do I start? First, I got familiar with some of the blocks, I went through tutorials, and asked a lot of questions. By using the commands, James Bolt became “alive” stopped being just a “thing”. He moves and reacts. I was creating this movie by putting together different pictures into one big display of things happening. He began to walk, to shoot lightning bolts, and earning points.  

During the coding process, it was fun and I felt happy that I kept trying and did really well. When I finished my video game, I was really proud of myself. 

Now, why should I encourage others to learn coding? Once I was a rookie, now, I am part of the game community. I did this with my friends and I bonded with them. I learned a new skill and grew as a person. Pushing myself through a new challenge makes the experience more interesting. I will use my experience to inspire others.

For this presentation I chose two commands. The first one, it is one of my favorites, it shows how James walks by pressing the arrow key, in this example is the right arrow which moves him to the right. The sequences of images give the impression he is walking. 

The second one, it is the most difficult for me. It makes the lightning bolt hide and follow James. He shoots it when the spacebar is pressed. The lighting bolt appears and moves from James and disappear when it touch the edge, then it hides and returns to x:0, y:0 that is James head.
